TAKING THE FLAK

Pilot for the new comedy-drama series.

With Martin Jarvis, Doon Mackichan, Bruce Mackinnon, Joanna Brookes, Damian O'Hare, Lydiah Gitachu, Lucy Chalkley, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Lloyd Owen, George Alagiah, Sophie Raworth. Guest appearances by Mackenzie Crook, Ruby Wax and others.

A small African war suddenly becomes global news and a team of BBC journalists arrives in the country of Karibu, ready to cover the conflict for 'the Ten' back home. But football-mad boy soldiers, corrupt car dealers, intestinal discomfort, landmines, old flames and colossal egos all get in the way. There is definitely a story to tell, but who will get to tell it?

This is Damian O'Hare's new TV series - he may or may not be in the pilot, which was shot separately from the rest of the series, but in any case, the story sounds promising.

This is (finally!) the sequel to "Tómas".

Rating: PG-13
Genre: slash, adventure, humour
Pairing: Norrington/Gillette
Other characters appearing: Lord Cutler Beckett, Lt. Greitzer, Lt. Groves, Will Turner plus cameos by Prince Frederick of Prussia and Voltaire
Warnings: none
Feedback: Sure! Keep it coming!
Disclaimer: here
Author's note: I always thought that "Tómas" was the weirdest story I've ever written. Well - I was wrong...

THE FLYING SCOTSMAN (2/?)

Summary: There's nothing that a leprechaun wouldn't do for his treasure, so all is not lost for James Norrington.

Have fun!

Hello my dears

I've lost the content of my mailbox thanks to this genius of a provider... so now I'm in the process of setting up my mailing list again. If you would like me to add your address, please either post it here, send me a message via LJ or mail to emma at emmacollingwood.com

Please note: you will ONLY receive a mail from me if a new book is out. I'll neither contact you about articles I've written, essays, politics, fanfic, chainletters nor any other thing that is not "hey, my new book is out!". So we're talking about a maximum of ten mails per year. Don't fear the spam!

Thanks for your support.

BON ANNIVERSAIRE,[info]lineae !

This way for your card, ma belle! )

Of course I also wish you a lovely time if you celebrate neither nor (like me, for example).

I can do fluffy bunnies, though:

(and of course I have to think of the joke [info]nienna_weeper mailed me now... hahaha! )

I'll celebrate spring and the awakening of Mother Nature. I got myself an awesome mix of seeds for flowers you'll find in meadows - "Butterfly Friendly" - and I'll start planting this evening.

No doub the cats will help, which, no doubt, won't be a help at all.

Have a lovely time, everybody! :-)

Most of you know how close to my heart the "I Do!" anthology is. While I'm usually very much "well, it would be nice if you'd buy it, sort of, but you really don't have to..." about my work, I've pestered friends and friendsoffriends including my family to buy the book with the persistence of a politician on an election campaign.

"I Do!" is a charity project. All profits go to
LAMBDA Legal, supporting their fight against California's Prop 8 and all their other efforts. Neither the publisher MLR Press nor any the authors (one of which is me) make any money off this project. As I've said before: I consider everybody who opposes an union of love between two consenting adults a threat to society.

There's really something for every taste, sweet or hot, sad or funny. If you'd like to buy the anthology, you can read all about it and find the links here:

"I DO!" - ANTHOLOGY

My contribution to the anthology is called "Semi-detached". Is gay marriage a matter of equality, commitment or home improvement? Thomas comes to the conclusion that it's all about knocking down walls.

"Semi-detached" features James, Thomas and Sebastian, the characters from "The Purser, the Surgeon, the Captain and his Lieutenant". The story is set in modern London, and here's a short excerpt:

“The working class has arrived,” Sebastian announced, “looking cranky as usual, but he bought beer. Good man.”
Upon noticing Thomas’ black eye and split lip, Sebastian arched an eyebrow.
“The proletariat’s been struggling. What happened, mate?”

I finally managed to read through all the reviews for the anthology, and it's amazing how many reviewers took the time to read the book and recommend it. Special thanks to all of you!

REVIEWS: 'WELL, WE'VE READ WORSE...' )

End of commercial break, back to your regular scheduled programme.

Life is like a liana; if you can't let go, you'll never get anywhere.

Just a line to let you know that this account will be (mostly) retired. I won't delete it or take anything down, but the occasional updates on my writing, charity appeals or birthday greetings aside, [info]erestor won't see further updates. My fannish life has moved entirely to [info]joyful_molly, and as for private entries - well. It's not called the most boring life of Master Erestor without a reason. Not much going on here, at least nothing that would need publication. I'll keep an eye on my f-list as I always did, no changes there.

Please feel free to friend [info]joyful_molly or unfriend [info]erestor at your convenience. I won't throw a tantrum (and the Gods know I don't blame anybody for NOT sharing my current interests!) :-) - hardly any private content on [info]joyful_molly, by the way.

Things change, people change, we all move, sometimes in different directions. I've started this LJ six years ago, and most of the time, it's been great fun. I made friends, I lost friends, we had terrific discussions here. The active times have been good, I hope the retirement will be even better. :-)
